Speed equation: s=vt+1/2at^2?

Question by Past The Past: Speed equation: s=vt+1/2at^2?
I need to solve for ‘a’. And I am confused beyond all belief. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

s = vt + 1/2at^2
1/2 at^2 = s – vt
at^2 = 2(s-vt)
a= 2/t^2 (s-vt)
